Haitian Charity Art Auction: "Art From The Heart!"
Granville, Ohio...The people of Haiti are on the minds and in the hearts of many people around the world, including here in central Ohio. Granville-based Healing Art Missions is having its 7th annual Art From the Heart! silent auction of Haitian art on Saturday and Sunday, May 1st and 2nd to raise funds and awareness for their charity benefiting two communities in the troubled island nation. All 100% of the proceeds will go to support the work of Healing Art Missions in Haiti.
The artwork to be shown and auctioned includes paintings, woodcarvings and sculpture, beadwork, and more.

The show runs from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Saturday and from 10:00 A.M. until bidding ends promptly at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday. Additionally, on Sunday evening from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., during the closing bids, Healing Art Missions is proud to feature the musical stylings of the jazz duo Tom Carroll and Doug Richeson. The show will be held in the St. Luke's Episcopal Church Parish House on East Broadway in the village of Granville. Admission is free, and all are welcome to view the show and bid on the artwork.Healing Art Missions provides medical and development assistance in Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere. Each January, Healing Art Missions staffs medical clinics in Demier and Dumay, Haiti. All volunteers in a team of 12-14 pay their own expenses, treat approximately 1,000 patients during their weeklong stay, and transport needed medical equipment and supplies. A clinic in Dumay is now staffed two to three days a week by physicians hired by Healing Art Missions to provide continuing care between mission visits from the U.S.A. In addition, a school providing K-8 education and a daily hot meal for 550 children of Dumay, and a project providing clean water for 400 people in Demier are funded entirely by donations to Healing Art Missions.

While in Haiti, Healing Art Missions purchases artwork from local artists. The pieces are carried to the U.S.A. in the trunks in which volunteers bring medical supplies to Haiti. Each May this artwork is sold in the Art From the Heart! silent auction and all proceeds are sent back to Haiti.
